All auto insurance policies differ in terms of coverage. You can obtain professional advice from your independent insurance agent regarding the coverage you need. The big problem is that most people don’t know the exact coverage they need for their car. Here the main kinds of coverage that your car needs. Liability for Bodily Injury
Your auto insurance needs to have a minimum coverage of $10,000 per person ideally. For accidents, it should be around $20,000 per accident. The point is that the amount of liability coverage that your auto insurance has should be enough to protect what you have at the moment. Remember that someone might sue you for a lot of money. Thus, make sure that your auto insurance policy is never cheap. Liability for Property Damage You will need this coverage to protect you from any serious accident. This coverage will handle your repair bill, especially if you've hit someone's car. A Personal Umbrella policy can cover the excess costs, but you need a high minimum before you can get a Personal Umbrella policy. Your auto insurance policy must have a high coverage for this because a car would normally cost $50,000 each. Thus, repair costs could be high. Collision This part of the coverage takes care of your own car's damage during an accident. This basically depends on the vehicle that you're insuring. You should make a decision whether to buy collision coverage or if you opt for a deductible. Remember that the higher the deductible, the lower the insurance costs will be. You will need collision coverage, especially for a new and valuable car. Comprehensive Coverage The comprehensive coverage provides coverage for the cost of the extra damages that your car has. This damage excludes collision, such as in the case of fire and theft. You need to choose a deductible if you want to have lower premiums. Together with Collision coverage, the term for this combination is Physical Damage coverage. Medical Expenses This covers the costs of medical care for you and all the passengers affected by the accident. If you choose a limit under Medical Expenses coverage, that’s the maximum that the insurer will pay you for medical claims for each driver. It’s best to know the coverage of your auto insurance. That should keep you away from troubles, unexpected expenses, and arguments. Get your auto insurance now, and you can have that peace of mind you’ve always wanted. You made a great point on how having your car insured means that it'll be covered from potential damage caused by collision or theft. I should probably share this with my friend because he plans to get a car before the year ends. This way, he won't need to worry about paying too much for repairs.
